Dog Walking on a Sunny Day

About Us

The Full Story

Hello there and welcome to Platinum Paws!

At Platinum Paws, we know that every animal has unique needs, and we’re here to support those with tailored care packages that prioritise the welfare and happiness of your pets, after all, our pets are our family, and we promise to love them just as much as our own.

Platinum Paws was founded by myself - Shauna McGee, a lifelong animal lover with a deep-rooted passion for canines and canine behaviour. I think working with animals has always been a dream and my 'happy place', I've always felt most comfortable and happiest when around animals, especially when out walking my Labrador Banana, but I never knew what I wanted to do, until one day it just clicked into place, and here we are! I am fully DBS checked, insured, iPet Level 3 Pet Emergency First Aid Qualified and Level 3 Emergency Outdoor Adult and Paediatric First Aid Certified. Whilst in our care, a first aid kit will be on hand at all times in case of an emergency (but we hope to never have to use it!).

Experience

My journey began at home aged 11 with my dad, David McGee, a respected dog behaviourist, where I learned about the nuances of canine behaviour and rehabilitation. Together, we volunteered for charity German Shepherd Rescue and converted our house and land into a rescue, where we fostered and rehabilitated hundreds of German Shepherds in our own home, helping them transition into loving family pets before being rehomed into suitable homes. This experience saved many dogs from being pts and naturally fostered my interest in animal welfare and training from a young age.

Work within the rescued carried on for 10+ years in my day to day home life, before my dad unfortunately passed away in 2019. It was because of him that I believed I could carry on what he started and what he taught me.

In 2013  I moved away to Bishop Burton College to study an Extended Diploma in Level 3 Animal Management, achieving D*D*D*, and got my first job at 16 on the weekends in a boarding kennels, where I cared for dog, cats and other small animals for many years. Afterwards, I went to university and studied a FdSc in Animal Welfare Science and then a BSc in Applied Animal Welfare Science. I've always known I wanted to work with animals and helping my dad run the rescue taught me so much hands on life experience. I currently still work 3 days a week at an Alternative Provision within an Equestrian Centre in Lincolnshire, teaching secondary school students about the fundamentals of animal care.
